How does the Feedback system work?
A Feedback Rating is a measure of a user's reputation in the community. Every registered user at Half.com by eBay has a Feedback Rating that is calculated by the following system:
Adding 1 point (+1) for each positive comment received.
Subtracting 1 point (-1) for each negative comment received.
Awarding 0 points (0) for each neutral comment received.
Even though a single person can give feedback on the same user multiple times, he/she will be able to affect that user's Feedback Rating by only one point. For example, if he/she leaves three negative comments, the Feedback Rating will be decreased by only one. If a user leaves the same number of positive and negative comments, his/her contribution to the rating will be zero. In other words, you can "vote" as many times as you want, but in the end, you are only saying, "yes" (+1), "no" (-1), or "neutral" (0).
Can I retract the Feedback I left for someone?
No. It's a good idea to be very thoughtful about what you want to say before you submit it as feedback.
When should I leave Feedback?
We strongly encourage you to leave Feedback after completing a transaction on Half.com or eBay. Your honest feedback shapes the entire community and specifically affects the success and behavior of other members.
We encourage you always to leave comments about a specific transaction within 90 days of the end of the transaction.
Someone who left me Feedback is "not a registered user." What does this mean?
Sometimes we change a registered user's status to "not a registered user." When this occurs, there are no changes to your Feedback Rating and all feedback comments left by that user remain unchanged. The only change is that the member is designated as "not a registered user" on your Feedback Profile.
Circumstances where Half.com will consider removing Feedback
Half.com is provided with a valid court order finding that the disputed rating is slanderous, libelous, defamatory or otherwise illegal, or with a settlement agreement resolving such a lawsuit submitted by both attorneys and signed by both parties. The Feedback contains any link to another page, picture, or JavaScript. The Feedback contains profane or vulgar language, or adult material. Inflammatory language, such as "fraud, liar, cheater, scam artist, con man" etc. is strongly discouraged, but will not be removed. Feedback that contains personal identifying information about a member, including real name, address, phone number, or e-mail address. Feedback that makes any reference to a Half.com or law enforcement organization investigation, i.e., "Half.com is investigating this person". Negative Feedback intended for another member will be considered for removal only in situations where the member responsible for the mistaken posting informs Half.com of the error and has already placed the same rating for the correct member. This does not apply to a comment that was mistakenly marked negative instead of positive or vice versa. Feedback left by a user who provided Half.com with false contact information during the registration process, and cannot be contacted. We consider the transaction period 90 days from the end of the listing date, or 30 days from the time feedback is left/whichever is greater. Participating in a transaction with the intent of leaving Feedback as part of a campaign to harass one or more members.
What is Mutual Feedback Withdrawal? Is it available for Half.com transactions?
Members can withdraw negative feedback that they left a transaction if they've resolved their disagreement. The process used to withdraw the negative feedback is called Mutual Feedback Withdrawal. This feature is available for eBay purchases and Half.com purchases.
When feedback is withdrawn, the the positive, negative, or neutral rating associated with that feedback comment will no longer show or count in your feedback score. However, the feedback comment itself will remain. It's still always a good idea to try and resolve trading issues before leaving a negative feedback, whenever possible.
Mutual Feedback Withdrawal differs from feedback removal by eBay, where the feedback and all comments are completely removed. We will only remove feedback if it violates our Feedback Removal and Abuse Policy.
The Mutual Feedback Withdrawal Process
After both parties have agreed to withdraw the feedback, both parties will have their feedback scores adjusted at the same time. Depending on the type of feedback withdrawn, each party's score could increase, decrease or remain the same. eBay will add a note to the feedback comment, saying that the feedback was mutually withdrawn.
Note: If you haven't left feedback for your trading partner and you go through the Mutual Feedback Withdrawal process, you will no longer be able to leave feedback for that transaction.
You may only request Mutual Feedback Withdrawal once for every feedback left. You should only make such requests if both you and the other person have already agreed to have the feedback removed in advance.
Important: Members may initiate a request to mutually withdraw feedback within 30 days of either person leaving feedback or within 90 days of the transaction end date, whichever is later.
