What is the Half.com Instant Sale program and how does it work?
Half.com Instant Sale offers you a quick and easy way to sell your books, textbooks, movies, and game CDs and DVDs. The whole process takes 3 steps:
Do I need to be a registered Half.com user to sell my items?
Yes, you need to be a registered Half.com user in order to sell items on Half.com. You can register now and start selling right away.
How does an Instant Sale work?
Instant Sale on Half.com offers you a quick sale and fast cash. If your item is accepted, you are assured of the payment amount and can choose between 2 payment options: a deposit to your PayPal account or a Half.com gift certificate. Once Elovations, our partner for Half.com Instant Sale, receives an item, they evaluate it within 48 hours and, if accepted, payment is made within 5 business days of receipt of item. Unlike regular selling, you don't need to wait for your item to be sold to be paid—instead, you'll be paid once the item is received at Elovations' warehouse. If you choose the Half.com gift certificate as your payment option, an additional 15% of the offer price will be added to the gift certificate as a bonus to you.
Am I sending my items to Half.com or to a third party?
Just like any other buying and selling transaction on Half.com, the Half.com Instant Sale is a transaction between a buyer and a seller. In this case, you're the seller, and Elovations is the agent for the buyer. They arrange for the purchase of your item and payment to you.
What happens when my items are received at the warehouse?
When your package is received at the Half.com Instant Sale processing center at Elovations, they will check to see if:

What kinds of items can I sell in the Instant Sale program?
Half.com Instant Sale currently accepts books, CDs, and DVDs. Books include most textbooks as well as other books. In addition, the program accepts movie CDs, DVDs, and game CDs. Music CDs aren't accepted in the program.
Who evaluates the items at the warehouse—Half.com or a third party?
All items are received by a third party, Elovations, who is responsible for evaluating the condition of each item. Half.com is still the facilitator between the buyer and the seller, just as with any Half.com transaction.
Can I sell multiple items in a single sale?
Yes. Your Instant Sale sale can have a mix of books, CDs, and/or DVDs.
Is there any limit to the number of items I can sell in the Half.com Instant Sale program?
Yes, there is a limit of 10 sales per user, per quarter. A sale can be made up of multiple items. Each seller is also limited to selling a maximum of 2 of the same product per quarter.
Does Half.com Instant Sale pay for the shipping of items that come from outside of the US?
Free shipping provided is limited to items that are shipped from within the 50 United States. Also, items won’t be returned to locations outside of the US. Sellers outside of the US cannot participate in the Instant Sale program.
Is there any fee for selling items in the Half.com Instant Sale program?
No, there's no fee.
How do I track my Instant Sale sale?
All Instant Sale sales can be tracked by signing in to My Account on Half.com. You'll see the status of your sale in the My Instant Sale section.
How long should I wait before I ship my items?
All Half.com Instant Sale offer prices come with a 7-day price guarantee. So, be sure your item is postmarked and shipped within 7 days from date of the order to take advantage of your Instant Sale offer price.
Can I ship my items in multiple packages?
Yes, you're welcome to ship your items individually. However, if there are several items in one order, we recommend that you ship them in one package. If you have more than one order, please be sure to only ship items that are in the same order together.
What if I lose the shipping label for my sale?
Half.com Instant Sale sale items are shipped using the United States Postal Service. You’ll be provided with a free shipping label to ship the items. In case the shipping label is lost, you'll be able to print another from the My Instant Sale section of My Account.
Can I cancel my sale without shipping the items?
You can cancel an Instant Sale sale by signing in to My Account in Half.com and clicking the Cancel link in the My Instant Sale section. Also, if you don't ship your items within 7 days, your order is cancelled.
Are Instant Sale offer prices guaranteed?
Yes, all the Instant Sale offer prices come with a 7-day price guarantee. When your items are received at the warehouse, they're evaluated. If they're found to be in the same condition as you stated, you'll receive full payment.
How will I receive payment for the items I sell?
Half.com Instant Sale offers you a quick sale and fast cash. Do I need to have a PayPal account for payments?
You don't need a PayPal account to get an initial offer from Instant Sale. However, if you choose to receive payment through a deposit into your PayPal account, you do need a PayPal account to access your payment. It's important that the email address you use for Instant Sale matches the email address that's registered to your PayPal account. If you need to set up a PayPal account, the process is free, easy, and only takes a few minutes.
When will I get paid for the items I sell?
Once items are received by Elovations, Elovations will evaluate the items within 48 hours. Payments for accepted items are made within 5 days from the receipt of the item.
How will I be notified of the payment?
You'll receive an email with details about acceptance and payment for your items. You'll find the same details online at Half.com in the My Instant Sale section of My Account.
What happens if the items in my sale are found to be in a different condition than I reported?
If after being evaluated, the condition of your item differs from the condition you stated, you may receive an offer of a new quote with a revised offer amount, or the item will be sent back to you. At the time you make your sale, you can choose which option you prefer.
What happens if an item in my sale is found to be of no value?
Our first priority is to bring value to you by offering top dollar for your books, CDs, and DVDs. But if the item doesn't meet our minimum condition requirements or is damaged beyond repair, it will be shipped back to you for free. Our commitment to you is that your items will be handled responsibly and evaluated fairly.
Will I be notified if you offer a new quote for the item?
Yes, you'll receive an email update offering a new quote for your item. You'll also be able to track your offer in the My Instant Sale section of My Account.
How long can I wait before responding to the new quote?
New quotes are valid for 72 hours. You must accept or reject the quote that is being offered within this timeframe. You'll get a reminder email 24 hours before the new quote expires. If you don't act on the new quote, your item will be returned to you free of charge.
What happens if I accept the new quote for my item?
If you accept the new quote for your item, the item will be processed and you'll receive payment in 72 hours.
What happens if I reject the new quote for my item?
If you reject the new quote, your item will be returned to you free of charge.
Will I be able to tell why my item is being returned?
Yes. When an item is returned, you will receive an email with a picture of the item and a description of why it's being returned. You'll also find the reason for the return listed in Half.com in the My Instant Sale section of My Account.
