General Shipping Policy

Sellers receive a set shipping reimbursement from Half.com for each listing.

In the event a buyer files a claim for some of the items on a multiple item order from the same seller, where at least one or more of the items was received, the buyer will receive the discounted shipping amount for their shipping reimbursement.

When Half.com sends the seller an order notification, the desired shipping method will be included in that notification, and sellers must ship their item within 3 business days of order notification.

For both seller's and buyer's protection when ordering high dollar value items, we strongly recommend that sellers insure and track shipments. Half.com reserves the right to suspend the privileges of any member we feel may be acting in a fraudulent manner.

All items sold on Half.com by eBay must be shipped from within the 50 United States.  Sellers must ship to all 50 states with the exception of Alaska and Hawaii, also APO/FPO addresses and PO boxes.  To change your shipping options, please go to your Seller Shipping Options and click on Change Restricted Areas.

Holidays

Since sellers are dependent on the United States Postal Service (USPS) for the majority of shipping on our site, Half.com observes any holidays recognized by the USPS. For a list of these holidays please click here. Half.com does not consider any of the holidays recognized by the USPS or weekends as part of the 72 hours required for a seller to ship their items.

Buyer Shipping Options and Cost - Books, Music, Movies, Games and Game Systems

All sellers listing in Half.com's Books, Music, Movies or Games product categories must use, at a minimum, U.S. Postal Service Media Mail to ship orders. In addition, all sellers in these product categories have the option of offering Expedited Shipping as an upgrade.

In general, items shipped via Media Mail should arrive in 2 - 9 days from the time of shipping, excluding Alaska and Hawaii. It is our experience that Media Mail shipments can take as long as 30 days to arrive. Note that the USPS does not guarantee a specified delivery time for Media Mail and it may receive “deferred service.” Items shipped via Expedited Shipping (including: USPS Priority, Fed Ex Home Delivery, UPS Ground, Airborne Express Ground Delivery) should arrive in 1-3 days. In our experience, any form of expedited shipping may take as long as 10 days to arrive.

The buyer agrees to pay the shipping and Half.com handling costs for items purchased on the Half.com Site according to the following single item, fixed schedule:

In addition, all sellers in these product categories have the option of offering an expedited form of shipping as an upgrade to ship orders.  Expedited shipping methods should provide a 1-3 day delivery window from the time of shipping and include some type of tracking ability.  If a seller chooses to offer an expedited upgrade, this option will be made available to the buyer in the shopping cart.  Examples of expedited service include USPS Priority Mail, Fed Ex Home Delivery, UPS Ground, Airborne Express Ground Delivery.

Half.com will reimburse the following "first/additional" shipping allowance* to the seller (see also Seller Payment Policy):

* If an order includes hard-cover books as well as other types of items (a CD, for instance), we will consider the hard-cover book to be the first item shipped for purposes of calculating your shipping allowance and will consider the CD to be an additional item shipped. In general, we consider the item that pays you the highest "first item" allowance to be the first item shipped in an order and will pay you the "additional item" allowance for the remaining items.

The shipping allowance we provide is sufficient to cover the cost of shipping the vast majority of items that are sold at Half.com. However, this allowance may not be enough to cover the cost of shipping heavy books (books that weigh more than two pounds), multiple book sets (encyclopedias), or oversized books (books that are taller or wider than the average hard-cover bestseller and do not fit into a priority mail envelope). In these cases, you may want to adjust the price you set for the item in order to make up any difference between what the U.S. Postal Service charges to ship the item and the amount of this cost that we cover.

Packaging

All orders must be shipped in appropriate packing materials designed to minimize the chance of damage or loss during shipping. For a seller's protection when shipping high dollar value items, we strongly recommend that sellers insure and track shipments.  (Note that in the event of empty packages, sellers are held responsible for the item not reaching their buyer.)

Packages shipped via U.S. Postal Service Media Mail should have 'Media Mail' written or posted on the outside of the package in order to ensure prompt and correct delivery of the item.

Insured and trackable shipping is very important to make certain that a seller is protected from loss. The use of insured shipping methods also helps protect all Half.com members from fraud. Sellers should direct buyers to return damaged items to them so that the seller may file an insurance claim with the shipping carrier. If Half.com must refund a buyer in a case of damage (in accordance with the Buyer Protection Policy), the amount of the sale will be deducted from the seller's account balance. If the account balance is not sufficient to cover this deduction, a seller's checking account or credit card may be charged for the amount of the sale. Half.com will not reimburse sellers for loss resulting from damaged or missing packages.

Your package will consist of the following:

• The packing slip (use the bottom portion of the email notification).

The Buyer name and address information is provided for the sole purpose of shipping the specific purchased product(s) and may not be used for any other purpose, either in connection with such shipment(s) or separately from such shipment(s).
