 Half.com Policies - Feedback

How does the Feedback system work?

A Feedback Rating is a measure of a user's reputation in the community. Every registered user at Half.com by eBay has a Feedback Rating that is calculated by the following system:

  • Adding 1 point (+1) for each positive comment received.

  • Subtracting 1 point (-1) for each negative comment received.

  • Awarding 0 points (0) for each neutral comment received.

Even though a single person can give feedback on the same user multiple times, he/she will be able to affect that user's Feedback Rating by only one point per week. For example, if he/she leaves three negative comments, the Feedback Rating will be decreased by only one. If a user leaves the same number of positive and negative comments, his/her contribution to the rating will be zero. In other words, you can "vote" as many times as you want, but in the end, you are only saying, "yes" (+1), "no" (-1), or "neutral" (0).

When should I leave feedback?

After completing any transactions on Half.com by eBay. Your honest feedback shapes the community and specifically impacts the success and behavior of other members. Make your voice heard! We strongly encourage you to always leave comments about a specific buy or sell transaction within 60 days after the end of the transaction. We guarantee that all items will be available on our system for at least that period. After 60 days, you can still try to send in feedback, but items may be removed from our database without prior notice. If that happens, you will not be able to leave feedback.

Can I retract feedback I left for someone?

No. It's a good idea to be thoughtful of what you say when it comes to leaving feedback.

Someone who left me feedback is "not a registered user." What does this mean?

Sometimes we change a registered user's status to not a registered user. When this occurs, there are no changes to your Feedback Rating and all feedback comments left by that user remain unchanged. The only change is that the member is designated as "not a registered user" on your Feedback Profile.

Circumstances where Half.com will consider removing feedback

  • Half.com is provided with a valid court order finding that the disputed feedback is slanderous, libelous, defamatory or otherwise illegal, or with a settlement agreement resolving such a lawsuit submitted by both attorneys and signed by both parties.

  • The feedback, on its face, has absolutely no connection with Half.com, such as feedback related to commercial transactions that were not conducted through Half.com. This also includes feedback that contains any reference to another retail service or feedback that advertises the goods or services of someone other than the member for whom the feedback was left.

  • The feedback contains any link to another page, picture, or JavaScript.

  • The feedback contains profane or vulgar language, or adult material. Inflammatory language, such as "fraud, liar, cheater, scam artist, con man" etc. is strongly discouraged, but will not be removed.

  • Feedback that contains personally identifying information about a member, including real name, address, phone number, or e-mail address.

  • Feedback that makes any reference to a Half.com or law enforcement organization investigation, i.e., "Half.com is investigating this person".

  • Negative feedback intended for another member will be considered for removal only in situations where the member responsible for the mistaken posting informs Half.com of the error and has already left the same feedback for the correct member. This does not apply to a comment that was mistakenly marked negative instead of positive or vice versa.

  • Feedback left by a member who provided Half.com with false contact information during the registration process, and cannot be contacted.

  • Participating in a Half.com transaction with the intent of leaving feedback as part of a campaign to harass one or more members.
