 Enabling/Disabling JavaScript

FOR MACINTOSH:

Internet Explorer 4 & 5

  • Click on the Edit menu, then click Preferences.

  • The "Internet Explorer Preferences" window will be displayed. Under the heading "Web Browsers" on the left side, click the option "Security Zones".

  • To ENABLE JavaScript: Make sure the security setting is set to "medium (more secure)".

  • To DISABLE JavaScript: Set the security setting to "Custom" and then click the "Settings" button. Scroll down through the list of options to the bottom for the heading "Scripting". There are two options under the heading Scripting: "Execute Scripts" and "Execute Scriptlets". Set Execute Scripts to "Disabled".

  • Click OK to close and save the changes to the custom settings.

  • Click OK to close Preferences.

  • Close and restart the browser and please try again!

Netscape 4

  • Click on the Edit menu, then click Preferences.

  • The Preferences window opens. In the Category list in the left side click on "Advanced".

  • To ENABLE JavaScript: Make sure the checkbox "Enable JavaScript" is checked.

  • To DISABLE JavaScript: Make sure the checkbox "Enable JavaScript" is unchecked.

  • Click OK to close and save changes to Preferences.

  • Close and restart the browser, then please try again!

Netscape 6

  • Click on the Edit menu, then Preferences.

  • The Preferences window will popup. In the Category list on the left side, click on the option "Advanced".

  • To ENABLE JavaScript, make sure the checkbox labeled "Enable JavaScript for Navigator" is checked.

  • To DISABLE JavaScript, make sure the checkbox labeled "Enable JavaScript for Navigator" is unchecked.

  • Click OK to close and save the changes to Preferences.

  • Close and restart the browser, then please try again!

AOL

  • From the AOL Login screen, click on the My AOL menu, then click Preferences.

  • On the Preferences screen, click the "WWW" button on the left, then click on the "Advanced Settings" button on the right.

  • The "Internet Settings" window will open. On the left is a list of options. Under the heading "Web Browser" is the option "Security Zones". Click on Security Zones.

  • To ENABLE JavaScript: Make sure the security setting is set to "medium (more secure)".

  • To DISABLE JavaScript: Set the security setting to "Custom" and then click the "Settings" button. Scroll down through the list of options to the bottom for the heading "Scripting". There are two options under the heading Scripting: "Execute Scripts" and "Execute Scriptlets". Set Execute Scripts to "Disabled".

  • Click OK to close and save the changes to the custom settings.

  • Click OK to close Internet Settings and save the changes.

  • Close Preferences.

  • Login to AOL and please try our site again!

FOR WINDOWS:

Internet Explorer 4

  • Click on the View menu, then click Internet Options.

  • The Internet Options window will popup. Click on the Security tab.

  • To ENABLE JavaScript, make sure the security setting is set to "Medium (more secure)".

  • To DISABLE JavaScript, set security setting to "Custom" and then click the "Settings" button. The Security Settings window will pop up. Scroll down for the heading Scripting near the bottom. There are a few options under Scripting: "Active Scripting" and "Scripting of Java Applets".

  • Set "Active Scripting" to "Disabled".

  • Click OK to close and save the changes to Security Settings.

  • Click OK to close Internet Options.

  • Close and restart the browser, then please try again!

Internet Explorer 5

  • Click on the Tools menu, then click Internet Options.

  • The Internet Options window will popup. Click on the Security Tab.

  • To ENABLE JavaScript, make sure the security setting is set to "Medium". If the display reads "Custom Settings", click the "Default Level" button near the bottom right to reset the security settings to Medium.

  • To DISABLE JavaScript, set the security setting to "Custom" and then click the "Custom Level..." button. The Security Settings window will popup. Scroll down for the heading Scripting near the bottom. There are a few options under Scripting: "Active Scripting", "Allow paste operations via script", and "Scripting of Java applets". Set "Active Scripting" to "Disabled".

  • Click OK to close and save the changes to Security Settings.

  • Click OK to close Internet Options.

  • Close and restart the browser, then please try again!

Internet Explorer 6

  • Click on the Tools menu, then click Internet Options.

  • The Internet Options window will popup. Click on the Security Tab.

  • To ENABLE JavaScript, make sure that the "Medium (more secure)" security setting is selected.

  • To DISABLE JavaScript, set security setting to "Custom" and then click the "Settings" button. The Security Settings window will pop up. Scroll down for the heading Scripting near the bottom. There are a few options under Scripting: "Active Scripting" and "Scripting of Java Applets". Set "Active Scripting" to "Disabled".

  • Click OK to close and save the changes to Security Settings.

  • Click OK to close and save changes to AOL Internet Properties.

  • Close Preferences.

  • Login to AOL and please try our site again!

AOL 5

  • From the AOL Login screen, click on the My AOL menu, then click Preferences.

  • In the Preferences window, click on the "WWW" button.

  • The "AOL Internet Properties" window will open. Click on the Security tab.

  • The lower half of this window is titled "Security level for this zone".

  • To ENABLE JavaScript: If there is a slide-rule selector for the security setting, make sure it is set to "Medium". If there is no slide-rule selector and the setting says "Custom Level", click the "Default Level" button near the bottom right of the window to reset the security settings to Medium.

  • To DISABLE JavaScript, set the security setting to "Custom" and then click the "Custom Level..." button. The Security Settings window will popup. Scroll down for the heading Scripting near the bottom. There are a few options under Scripting: "Active Scripting", "Allow paste operations via script", and "Scripting of Java applets". Set "Active Scripting" to "Disabled".

  • Click OK to close and save the changes to Security Settings.

  • Click OK to close and save changes to AOL Internet Properties.

  • Close Preferences.

  • Login to AOL and please try our site again!

AOL 6

  • From the AOL Login screen, click on the Settings menu, then click Preferences.

  • In the Preferences window, under the Organization column on the right side, click on "Internet Properties (WWW)".

  • The "AOL Internet Properties" window will open. Click on the Security tab. The lower half of this window is titled "Security level for this zone".

  • To ENABLE JavaScript: If there is a slide-rule selector for the security setting, make sure it is set to "Medium". If there is no slide-rule selector and the setting says "Custom Level", click the "Default Level" button near the bottom right of the window to reset the security settings to Medium.

  • To DISABLE JavaScript, set the security setting to "Custom" and then click the "Custom Level..." button. The Security Settings window will popup. Scroll down for the heading Scripting near the bottom. There are a few options under Scripting: "Active Scripting", "Allow paste operations via script", and "Scripting of Java applets".
